Group Art Show...No Entry Fee
Venture into the sonic landscape. Eye am asking you Creative Creatures to, in the form of paintings, sculptures, or whatever medium you choose, unveil your feelings about a particular song. Paint it Black or express yourself In Living Color. This is also the ultimate chance to display the fine and funky art of Costumery. Eye hope to see some of my favorite musical characters sashaying amongst the artwork.
Maybe I'll find Liberace slobbering on a sparkly metal sculpture... I picture Beethoven wistfully admiring a water colour of Vienna on the Danube... Prince might be photographed humping a painting of himself. Art will need to be turned in at the Starlight by Wednesday, January 29... the show will open Feb 1. No one will be refused, as long as they make a work of art based on a song. More to come...

Starlight Storytime
Mark Kneeskern will be tugging on your ear Friday night at the Starlight Theatre, telling you tales from the tarmac... riddles from the road... and songs of setting-forth.  He'll be signing copies of his book, "The Last American Hitch-Hiker", a novel of the non-fictional, non-punch-pulling variety; an unorthodox exploration into our mobile culture, making you feel like you're out on the road alongside the humble narrator, feeling the elation, frustration, curiosity, fear, and outright hilarity that such an endeavor incurs. Character sketches and historical asides make this a much-textured experience. Join Mark at 8pm Friday in the Starlight Theatre for a night of laughs and in-your-face humanity.

Wasteland Soundtrack
Hermes Cavagnini, writer and director of "Wasteland", would like to give the opportunity to local Big Bend musicians to be on the movie sound track.  Please submit your ORIGINAL music by playing and singing into the iSing app which can be downloaded for free from the iTunes store.  While registering, list your location as TERLINGUA so we can find your song. You can send your friends to listen and vote via the app.  We will feature popular tracks (most votes) and ones that we think might be a good fit for the film.  As an example, Hermes liked the music from the soundtrack from Django Unchained, so keep that in mind while writing.  If you're inspired by visuals, a teaser video showing some of the action will be released on the internet next week as part of a fundraising campaign for post production and sound design.  Please submit your work!  It's a paid gig ;-) Thanks much!

South County Property Owners, be aware:
I am very upset over Sunday's so-called "STUPID RACE" ride and the violation of our property and owners' rights. From what I have heard this is at least the third incident of this particular bike ride intruding on others' properties.
What amazes me is that I know most of the people that were on that ride and no-one thought to call me to ask permission, which I would have refused. The participants are national park and state park officials, outfitters and professional guides who all should have known better than to trespass and trample over anyone's private property causing erosion and destruction plus riding through an ancient archaeological site. They were riding over my property for about 3 hours without my knowledge or consent. if you go to a national or state park without a permit or permission, there is a penalty to pay.
We feel there should be repercussions for this type of aberrant action, thoughtless though it may have been; at the least, I want the people who were on the ride to contact me, acknowledge that they were trespassing and that they will not return in the future. Most have already done so. My phone # 371-2523. Lovika, South County Road
